Ingredients

  • 6 cups finely chopped green cabbage
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ¼ cup finely minced yellow onion
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, and minced onion.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, granulated sugar, sweet pickle relish, dill pickle relish, white vinegar, vegetable oil, yellow mustard, salt, and black pepper until the dressing is smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the dressing over the vegetable mixture and toss thoroughly to ensure all the vegetables are evenly coated.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the coleslaw to chill.
  • Before serving, give the coleslaw a quick stir to redistribute any settled dressing. Serve chilled alongside your favorite dishes.

Notes

Finely Chop – Use a food processor for small, even cabbage pieces like the original.
Chill Well – Let it sit for at least 4 hours for the best flavor.
Balance Taste – Adjust vinegar for tang or sugar for sweetness to suit your preference.
